Nomad's Mettle

Dynamis | Seraph | Shirogane | Ward 2 Plot 19
Open Monthly on the Second and Fourth Thursdays, from 7pm to 10pm Eastern

Nomad's Mettle is a Steppe-themed fight club located on an isle in the Ruby Sea. The venue's founder and proprietor, Nenshalaar — a Xaela of the Khatayin tribe — was inspired to open the Mettle's doors after hearing that the world beyond the Steppe was advancing and its peoples growing stronger. Much like Bardam's Mettle acts as a rite of passage and proving ground for the Steppe's tribes, Nomad's Mettle seeks to test and measure the might of all fighters across the globe.

Venue Rules

The following Rules for the Attendees of Nomad's Mettle can be best summarized as: Respect your fellow players and venue staff. Remember that roleplaying is a collaborative effort.

Regarding Behavior

  • Within the boundaries of the venue, keep all public-facing RP appropriate for the setting. This is not your ERP spot. Descriptions of gore and violence should be expected by all in attendance.

  • Upon entering Nomad's Mettle, your weapons are handed over to the attending staff and kept secure behind the front counter to be returned to you at the end of your evening. Ignoring this rule and drawing a weapon in character will result in you being disarmed and, if the situation escalates, removed from the venue.

  • Nomad's Mettle has several NPC staff. Feel free to control them in your RP posts as you wish; just remain respectful. A quick write up of their personalities is available on the venue's carrd and in our discord in the staff-info channel.

  • Feuds and bragging IC are accepted. Xenophobia IC is expected. Please be warned that Xaela are not known for being particularly welcoming or friendly. However, we will absolutely NOT tolerate OOC racism or other forms of bigotry. Such cases will be dealt with immediately. If you feel someone is crossing a line, message a staff member immediately.

  • Extreme cases of inappropriate behavior, even IC, will likely result in removal from the venue. Though we understand that in a Fight Club setting characters can be insulting or insensitive, please consider your writing partners' comfort when approaching sensitive subjects, threats, and antagonizing comments.

  • If your character is removed from the venue by staff for whatever reason, there will be no rolling regarding the contact. If you ignore this, you will be banned from the venue and blacklisted.

Regarding Matches & Fights

  • Nomad's Mettle uses a custom sparring system involving /dice 12 rolls instead of the common /random contested rolls. Please familiarize yourself with the rolling system's rules prior to your match. The Sparring System Rules are posted on the venue's carrd and in our discord.

  • Matched Fighters will be invited to a party with the currently on staff host / referee. OOC communication, rule questions and clarifications, as well as the /dice rolls take place in Party chat.

  • The rolling system only applies to the fighting ring, and only to those currently engaged in a match. Matches are to take place in /yell chat as to not get blocked out by /say chat comments.

  • Do not disregard or override Nomad's Mettle's rolling system. The system was designed in order to ensure fair fights while keeping the action and narrative moving. Failure to follow the rolling system will result in point loss or disqualification.

  • Keep your fighting realistic and within the bounds of the FFXIV universe. You only control your character; no godmodding. Ultimately spectators are watching your match so keep the action interesting and don't be afraid to take damage -- we have medics on staff.

  • When describing your attacks, as the attacker you can describe the force with which your strike connects and where / how on your opponent, but you can not describe the damage that is inflicted upon your opponent's person. Do not take away your opponent's OOC agency; allow them to describe their character's wound / injury.

  • Forfeiture of a fight is completely allowed, and we understand Real Life responsibilities come first. However if no shows and forfeitures become excessive or frequent the staff of Nomad's Mettle reserves the right to deny future sign ups.

Staff Info

Nenshalaar Khatayin

Founder, Proprietress, Scheduling Coordinator

Nensha was inspired to host the challenge of Nomad's Mettle after hearing that the world beyond the Steppe was advancing and its peoples growing stronger. She is a very proud and accomplished Steppe Warrior, having only recently ventured outside the boundaries of home.

Ashok Kagon

Co-Host, Announcer

Ashok is nocturnal, flirtatious, wise-cracking, and loves an entertaining match. He's almost always smoking something and may offer you a hit of something that could make your night a lot more fun. Sober or not, he serves as one of the venue's announcers by commentating on matches and keeping track of the number of rounds and points earned.

Azimbayar Oronir

Co-Host, Announcer

Azimbayar is a young warrior with much to prove who wants to see the same passion she feels exhibited in the ring, no matter the contestant. Don't let the Doman silks and bright voice fool you--she is a steppe warrior true, and yearns for blood. She assists the hosts on the first event of each moon.

Sorkhan Khelgui

Bouncer, Referee

Sorkhan is the watchful, but silent, observer of Nomad's Mettle. He ensures the rules of the venue are followed by all in attendance and that the location remains safe for both fighters and spectators. His vocal cords have been severed (as is a tradition among the Khelgui) so he can not speak but his body language more than makes up for his lack of speech.

Dazahn Vrani

Medic

Dazahn is a newer addition to the medical team, a wandering soul from Thavnair who is eager to connect with his far eastern "cousins." He has trained extensively in alchemy and arcanima...with an added knack for home cooking and kind words to soothe the spirit as much as the flesh.

Sen Kang

Medic

Sen Kang, while new to the medical team, is an accomplished medical expert in his own right; raised in a home that regularly produced skilled healers, medicine men and alchemists alike. Despite the stressful and busy nature of his occupation, he himself is rarely tense and while well-versed in self-defense, prefers to mend wounds, rather than cause them.

Inaya Vrani

Bartender

Tasked with keeping an eye on her wayward sibling, Inaya followed Dazhan to Nomad's Mettle. Finding the atmosphere intriguing, she took up a position as a barkeep to serve both purposes. Though she may not have the most experience with bar-tending, she's got spirit, and that has to count for something...right?

Ajai Dotharl

Bartender

Born of the Steppe and long estranged from it, Ajai enjoys the little taste of home all Xaela receive in the Mettle. While bartending may not be his forte, he looks to make sure everyone has something and that's better than nothing.

NPC Staff

The following staff of Nomad's Mettle are NPCs and are able to be referenced in anyone's IC RP posts. Please try to keep their behavior true to their descriptions and always be respectful.

Torgan Malaguld

Greeter, Weapons Attendant

Torgan is responsible for greeting the attendees. He also collects and stores any weapons carried by guests upon entry and will retrieve them for return at the end of the evening. His many years on the Steppe among the Malaguld have hardened his demeanor so he sometimes comes across as blunt but is never disrespectful or rude.Personality: Gruff, Stoic, Diligent
