The Rules
Lethal attacks and maiming are strictly prohibited, along with any serious magic that gives long lasting effects.
Absolutely no void magic – we will eject you.
No violence outside of the dojo, we don’t like mopping the hardwoods.
No shoes on the mat - we aren't animals here!
Everything else is fair game. You earn respect with the blood you spill.

Our Dojo openings also boast a full bar, with plenty of unique and rare selections for you to pick your poison from. Be it a victory shot, drowning you condolences, or a little indulgence as you spectate, there's always a good excuse to go and grab a drink while you're here.
Professional Level Medicine
Worried about the long term consequences that consistent violent encounters can have on a person? Never fear! The Ginger has planned accordingly and always has at least one healer, trained in Aetheric and Chirurgery alike, up and ready to go. Just make sure you limp there in due time after your battles, and you can get any* of your wounds patched up completely free of charge.
*Good bedside manner is not promised by any of the Ginger staff. Aetherics may be utilized, note to your healer if you have any sort of aversion. Death is not allowed on premises, please go 10 yalms off the property before expiring wherever possible. Thank you!
OOC Combat Rules
Signups happen every week via our Discord. The In Character rules above and our actual system for fights are different. IC rules can be bent or broken if done so subtly or with some cooperation from your MC and opponent; the OOC rules are non-negotiable.
We fight using Grindstone rules with a 30-minute timer. First person to land 3 strikes wins.
Rolls are in /random, fight text is in /yell.
Fighters roll for initiative to determine who is attacking first. Whoever rolls higher attacks, and the lower roll defends. The attacker writes their attempted attack in /yell, and then both combatants roll /random. If the attacker rolls higher, the attack hits and they score a point. If the defender rolls higher, they dodge / block / negate the attack and no points are earned. The defender writes in /yell how they take the damage of the attack, or how they avoid it.
The defender now becomes the attacker, original attacker becomes defender, and it is the second player's turn to attempt an attack. The fight follows this attack - roll - hit / defend - counterattack pattern until one fighter has earned three points, or until the 30 minute timer runs low (in which case the MC will work with both fighters to end the fight in a timely manner).

The Bar
The owners have spent a better part of a year cultivating relationships not only with small farms and distillers, but also rare acquisitions to get some of those items other bars just won't have.
All exchanged gil is In Character, but tips are appreciated by all of the staff!
On the Tap
Mun-Tuy Brew
Gridanian Beer brewed from BEANS. We wanted to showcase a unique beer that's not readily found in other bars. Most are brewed with wheat and barely, this one is brewed with beans! Think earthy bitter notes, with a smooth clean finish.
Crimson Cider
A wonderful cider that was crafted through the efforts of small famers from the region of Ala Mhigo. This cider is crisp, refreshing, and invigorating. Only local ingredients used and made 100% by the resistance effort of Ala Mhigo.[10% of proceedings are lovingly donated to the Garlean Restoration movement, after all they've been through.]
Cloudfist's Lifeblood
Brewed by our friends at the Whispering Wyvern, this smoked malt, full-bodied ale has hints of caramel and spice. Originally it was made in-house to accompany the tavern's meatier dishes, now it can be used to accompany a beating.

The stores of alcohol that the Ginger keeps is incredibly vast, so chances are if you ask your bartenders to get creative they will be able to find something to your liking. These can also be used as the basis for commonplace cocktails, if you and your server are so inclined.
Chances are if you come around regularly enough, management might take some suggestions for what else to stock!

The Whisky Ginger
Kugane 10 year, ginger beer, bitters, skewer of candied ginger, served over ice in a highball glass.
The namesake. 10 year aged whiskey graces this drink with a smokey profile, kicked off with a healthy pour of ginger-steeped effervescent water. Garnished with candied ginger, because we keep it classy.
the Heaven on High
Vodka, rum, gin, tequilia, oriental orange syrup.
A drink for the professional or perhaps someone that knows their liver wears a cape. Booze upon booze upon.. you get the idea here. Sweet tea and lots of alcohol. This will surely take you to Heaven.
The Heretic's Ecstasy
Ishgardian Champange, Albathias Gin, Lavender Simple Syrup, Heavens Lemon.
Effervescence meets Sin that would surely make an Ishgardian turn a shade of scarlet. Lavender, citrus, and bubbles, made with a blend of ingredients from both sides of the now-ended Dragonsong War. What more could you want?
The Kiss of Kami
Cherry Infused Sake, Lemon, Sakura Blossom
A refreshing drink that makes one reminisce an eastern spring's breeze. Bask in it's simplicity, and just how wasted a few of them can get you if you down them with a fast enough fervor.

The Mage's Mistake
Ether Potion, Lychee Juice, Vodka, Ishgardian Cognac, Fresh Berry Garnish.
Feeling drained? Struggling to keep it up? Lack the endurance to keep those spells coming? Chug this and you'll be good to go for hours. Developed with help by the medical staff, this cockail is ether infused with Lychee and booze. If this doesn't solve the problem, nothing will.
the Brawler's Beatdown
Health Potion, Navy Grade Limsan Rum, Garlean Bitters, Pinapple Juice, Simple Syrup.
If you're feeling at the end of your ropes and need a pick me up to keep the night going, look no further. Health potion infused with rum, pineapple juice, and a bit extra for spunk. Chalk full of electrolytes, perfect for after a brawl, totally cleared by your local medic.
The Name Pending
The Ginger is not responsible for any damages done while under the influence of a Name Pending.
While technically a cocktail, no one really understands how Larian makes it; or what is in it. The notecard with the instructions is convoluted and confusing to read so the staff kindly ask that you be ready for anything.
Custom Aetheric Drinks
We have a litany of creative barkeeps who are always ready to help you find something to your liking! Ren Vaughn develops his own aetheric concoctions, Koujiro loves to experiment, and Jawn Sunborne is always willing to try to get creative with his teas.Figure out what they're passionate about, and they'll be sure to mix you up something fantastic!
Guidelines
Each of the cocktails in this section is designed to have an In-Character effect on those who drink them. While the Mage's Mistake and Brawler's Beatdown simply serve as a more entertaining way to take a potion, the Name Pending will prompt the server who made it to ask you for a /random 20 roll...anything after that is a mystery.You are allowed to interpert the exact prompts to your own liking, in terms of how long they last and how severe they are! We just ask that you stay considerate to other patrons, during the process. Please make sure you get consent OOC for anything out of the ordinary or before serving them the drink, as per our rules.
Non-Alcoholic
The Spiced Sundown
A refreshing, herbal tea with notes of dried blood orange peel and lemongrass. Lightly steeped to avoid bitterness, this blend encapsulates the spirit of those cheerful and down-to-earth, with spiced notes reminiscent of a sunny day. (For those reluctant to part with the booze, the creator does condone mixing it with some nice Whiskey.)
Salted Caramel Mocha
For those with a propensity for sweets or a need for some energy, this coffee drink with ingredients sourced from around the Star is for you! Includes the best of Tural's local espressos, milk gathered freshly from local Karakul farms made into decadent caramel, chocolate made by Limsa Lominsa's famed Bismarck, topped off with fresh salt you chip off of the traditional Ishgardian Communal Saltlick yourself!
The Inn
Ishgard has opened it's gates after the Dragonsong War ended, and by the Twelve someone has got to take the time to capitalize on such things. The new influx of travelers means that there are always adventurers in need of a place to rest their heads, and Ishgard only had the one Inn to start beforehand. The Ginger hopes to provide a more luxurious and homey experience, far better than whatever the Forgotten Knight can offer.
Available Rooms
The Ginger's inn is open 24/7, and it is safe to assume that someone is able to help your character rent a room to their liking! Longer term stays are allowed, as well as utilizing the spaces to create more personalized facilities to suit your character's needs. Ricardo is usually around, thankfully!If you contact our staff, we are happy to set up threads regarding longer term stays either in character with a flavored key provided, or allowing a character into the FC so you can build a physical room to your standards.If you're in need of a room for a single thread, want a place to go take a breather during Dojo Nights, or just want to have a nice location for a GPose; these are some of the rooms we have open for use!
Room 3 - the Inn Room
We pride ourselves on having the best Inn, in all of Ishgard. This is but one of the examples of our rooms and the level of comfort we provide the weary traveler - and this doesn't even begin to account for the customization allowed for a more long term stay! We hope you'll take a room within our halls.
Room 6 - the Full Suite
For those that plan to stay with us for longer than a few days or just want to get away from it all, we recommend our full suite. From a well stocked kitchenette to a cozy firelit book corner to a hot bath and large bed, this room has everything you need to enjoy an evening in with your friends or loved one without ever having to set foot out the door.
Room 10 - Knowledge's Respite
A gift from the owner of the Spellward to the Whiskey Ginger - and perhaps to himself - this reading nook contains shelves upon shelves of tomes both new and ancient, each more obscure and esoteric than the last. Even when surrounding oneself with drinks, drugs and violence, one could occasionally use some respite to refocus on what truly matters: knowledge.
Room 11 - the Training Room
A small, simple room created by Kawa for fighters to practice in peace, or to have private duels. Practice weapons are available in the display next to the tatami mats, and it's encouraged for all visitors to offer a prayer to the shrine of battle.
The Bounty Board
Mercenary work is a common thread that binds most of the Ginger's common patrons, and their public bounty board boasts as wide a variety of job as the Golden Saucer's food court serves cuisines.Most of these come in the form of events, pop ups or other conversations had on our Discord!
About Us
Owned and operated by Yuyu Niah and Pollux Troy, the two have brought the East to Ishgard.Whether the unique setting offers an indulgence in foreign flavors, or a taste of home, our staff is here to provide a great time. We also offer inn services for the weary traveler.
A Brief History
The Whisky Ginger started as a simple enough thought from Yuyu Niah, a woman with a lot of money and a hatred of being bored. She was in possession of empty real estate and had been spending most of her free time lurking at a tavern made for and run by adventurers that saw an unfortunate closure; obviously, the solution was clear! Open a new tavern. Hire the old staff. New place to spend her evenings, acquired. It was perfect.Pollux Troy was the owner of the property in question, and upon his return to Eorzea he saw the steadily expanding business venture and saw opportunities to expand. Utilizing some contacts in Ul'Dah, the two decided to shift to a larger location and make the place a little bit more to their liking, adding fights. This proved to be a lucrative choice....except that wouldn't last forever, and eventually there was an incident at the older locale that caused a panicked move to Empyreum facilitated by an old business contact by the name of Nada Kuya; and thus the Whisky Ginger was reborn, as a Fighting Pit and Inn!
