Who we are

The Still & Strings is a performance and roleplay project that aims not to be #1, or to be the "it" place to be on your Friday nights, but instead aims to provide roleplayers both old and new with an engaging and exciting experience. We want to involve all of our guests in every show we do. We are always searching for feedback, and incorporating suggestions into our daily improvement. We hope that you enjoy your time with us!

The tickled keys

The Tickled Keys is our cute name for the stage we keep in the basement. You know, where the party is. On our stage sits two pianos, one which brings shadow, one brings light - not really, but they do have different sounds. Dancing on top of them can be found two of our lovely dance leaders, shining like the gems they are. We definitely commend them for trying to lead a massive group of drunk people in a coordinated dance, that's for sure.
The Tickled Keys boasts a wide area front and center for all the huge fans of the performing arts to stand close enough that you feel like you're hanging out with your favorite performer, but far enough that they don't get weirded out. At every show, we intend to bring the noise, the laughs, and present you with a show unlike any other you've seen. Unless you've seen our shows already.
Not a big fan of moshing up front? That's alright. Tucked behind the front, further back,is our full-service bar where you can sit back, relax, and watch the show. Feeling totally overwhelmed? We've got comfortable loft seating above the bar just for you!

THE new lounge!

The Still & Strings is proud to present the brand-new lounge on the ground floor of the establishment! This is a relaxing area with seating, booths, and a billiards table for a little competition between friends!

POOL TABLE RULES:
Roll to start: The HIGHEST rolling player at the start of the game can choose Solids or Stripes. The highest roller also goes first, breaking the balls.
You must sink eight balls as well as the cue ball to win.Call your Shot! - When it's your turn, call even or odd, as well as call out the number of the ball you're aiming for. If you do not roll a match to your call, you miss. ((1—8 Solids 9—15 Stripes))Example - OOC: Odds, ball 5. /roll - Random! You roll a 400. Aka the roll was even and the call was for 'odd', so you miss your shot. The first player to win by sinking all their balls and the cue ball wins! We encourage friendly betting!

  • The Grease Basket: Couldn't decide on what deep-fried delicacy we wanted to serve, so we decided to offer a whole bunch of 'em. A basket of fried pickles, fried cauliflower, cheese curds, and seasoned fries. Served with special dipping sauce.

  • A Thing o'Wings:It's like a bowl but also a plate of breaded and fried wings. Sauces: BBQ, Lemon Pepper, Hot, & Hot But Painfully So.

  • Hot, Salty Nuts: Toasted cashews, peanuts, and walnuts tossed in salt and spices. They've got quite the savory kick!

  • Fresh Popcorn: It's just popcorn. Buttery, salty, gets stuck in your teeth.

DRINKS AT THE BREWERY

We wouldn't be us without the distilled liquor that gave us our name. Any of our signature liquors can be mixed into cocktails! Consult our bartender on duty for their suggestions - everyone's got different taste.

SPECIALS

COCKTAILS

  • South Shroud Swamp Water - Looks like we dipped our jug into the Rootslake and took home whatever came up, but we promise it tastes utterly divine. This murky green punch is ever college student's dream - gin, vodka, and rum mixed with blue curacao, pineapple juice and orange juice. Garnished with an orange wedge and a cherry!

  • Cael's Bathwater Deluxe Edition - An entire bathtub-shaped cocktail just for you! Our classic Bathwater mix of sour apple, vodka, and lemonade - made bubbly this time with lemon-lime soda. Garnished with rose petals and a tiny rubber duck that you get to keep!

  • Afternoon Tea-tini - We took our Junebug gin and infused it with a load of the best earl grey tea we could get our hands on. We then rim a martini glass with lemon zest infused sugar and shake together that gin with some simple syrup and lemon juice. Finished with a twist of lemon peel, elevate your tea drinkin' to the highest form tonight!

  • Vivi's Vacation - Are you feeling like you need a vacation soon too? 'Cause we are. A classic pina colada blend of ice, both white and golden rum, cream of coconut, and the juice and flesh of pineapples. Served in a hollowed out pineapple body and garnished with both a cherry and some pineapple chunks on top.

  • The Green Gentleman - We mix vodka with THC-infused vegetable juice, beet juice, and a squeeze of lemon juice first. Topped with prosecco for a bit of a bubble and garnished with mint on top. Technically, it's healthy for you! Contains microdosage of THC, drink at your own risk.

SHOTS

  • That Wanderin' Dog - This month is our time to get our worst shot ideas out of the tank before we do something drastic. Smoky mezcal meets a dash of lime juice and hot sauce, mixed with... a shot of hot dog water. Yep. Hot dog water. Served in a shot glass topped with a nacho cheese powder dusting.

  • Pickled Willy's Revenge - The return of the strangely popular shot. Our house's slightly spicy bloody mary mix gets doubled in its potency and poured into a half of a hollowed-out pickle. Served with a baby celery stick inside. You're welcome.

  • Pink Unicorn - Strawberry vodka, white chocolate liqueur, and strawberry milk shaken and poured into a shot. Topped with boozy whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles.

  • Beeboo's Revenge - Cael's secret pre-workout energy drink recipe stars in half of this shot, paired with potent absinthe. And if you thought this drink wasn't rough enough, we set the damn thing on fire! This one will have you on your ass faster than a round in the ring with our Allagan node-turned-mechanical bull!

  • Slut Juice - Named not because it is juice for sluts or made of sluts, but because it is guaranteed to turn you into one. Vodka, orange juice, and lemonade make for a sweet-sour shock to the brain that'll get your clothes off faster than your two-pump chump can.

ALTERNATIVES

Newly offered! We are growing our selection of relaxing non-alcohol-related drugs on offer. Home grown, holistic alternatives to Eorzea's most common substances. We're working on growing our collection now!

  • The Shadow Step: A specialized blend of Martron's Mistletoe, Moonflower and other hard to get shroud cross breeds of Mushrooms. This is wrapped tightly in the fleshy outershell of a Gridania Walnut into a light blue wrapped smoke. Known to cause a mild relaxation high, it emits a blue glow in the dark smoke and minty smell when lit.

  • Invigorating Infusions: We extracted the THC - that's the part of the bud that invokes the lovely high we get from smoking moko - from our own strain of the plant and infused it into flavor bombs for all your favorite cocktails. Currently available in the following flavors: Watermelon, Orange, Apple, Peach, Pear.

THE LIQUORS

NEW! Wines

Courtesy of our friends at the Bel Canto, we are now offering a selection of wines made by the finest winemakers Vylbrand ever did know. To have a look, hop on over to The Bel Canto's Wine Menu!
This month we are serving:

  • White - Verdejo | Crisp, light body, pear, apple, lemongrass.

  • Rose - Grenache | Crisp, sweet, medium body, sour raisins, apple, hint of saltiness, fruity.

  • Red - Shiraz | Dry, full body, blackcurrant, spice, oak, earthy.

  • Port - Tawny Port | Sweet, browned butter, baked apples, almond, liquorice.

Whisky

  • Red Rooster Rye: Your basic rye whisky. We toasted the rye before brewing, giving it that slightly smoky taste that finishes with a note of toasted marshmallow. Ingredients sourced from some farm in La Noscea. We got it for free, but you're still paying full price. Labor costs, you know.

  • The First Bourbon: The old cooper we bought the casks for this bourbon from told us the wood was some crazy breed of oak from another world. We didn't realize oak could be white, but that's what we got. Regardless, the corn for this batch is locally sourced, and the apparently magic wood we aged it in gives it a flavor and smoothness that is totally out of this world. (It's also our first attempt at making bourbon.)

  • Tonberry King's Rancor: The burn from this whisky will rile you up more than the elemental we pissed off when we cut down the tree to get the charcoal we needed to filter it. Hopefully it doesn't make you blow so much steam that you start a bar fight. Made with water from Bronze Lake for that extra angry touch. Tested and guaranteed not to give you the tonberry plague. We think.

gin

  • The Free Paw: We brewed this gin with our special set of botanicals, but someone dumped in a bunch of rolanberries and turned the whole batch pink. This gin is heavier on the floral notes, with the rolanberry giving it a sweet and tart finish.

  • Goblin's Water: Despite the unappetizing name, this genevre is more like if gin and whisky had one sexy, smooth baby. When we ran out of steel kegs to put our gin in, we stuck some in some leftover malt wine barrels and then... we forgot about it for a while. With woodsy notes that go down much easier, this happy accident is one we'll be keeping in our book. Definitely doesn't smell like cheese.

  • Junebug: Creatively named because we harvested the juniper for this in the height of summer, and our resident botanist was assaulted by ravenous junebugs... We steeped our botanicals for this over-proofed gin for a day, making some wicked tea - just kidding - before distilling and aging in used sherry casks. No one in their right mind is buying sherry anymore, anyway.

RUM

  • Hood's Bootstraps: This dark rum was made with the dark molasses we extracted from sugar cane that we stole off a Monetarist's plantation in Thanalan. This rum opens up with notes of maple syrup and vanilla, followed by its astringent flavour that hints at bits of citrus and the sweet, addictive taste of larceny. Eat the rich.

  • Dr. Spice: We couldn't come up with a better name, because we were too busy being drunk on this stuff. With 32 notable spices and flavors, this rum is perfect for sipping on while you sit on a beach and flirt with that rich girl that's totally out of your league.

  • The One Night Stand: The only mistake you could make was drinking too much of this stuff and forgetting about it. Of course, if you drink enough mojitos, maybe you'll start looking hotter and land on someone's arm out the door tonight. Or not. We don't make any promises. Just drink the rum.

Beer and ale

  • Green-Eyed Jack: This IPA is almost hedonistic in how much malt's in it. With the body a bit on the darker side, cedar and caramel notes slap you directly in the face while a blonde, creamy head soothes all your woes with a buttery, velvety, vanilla taste. Don't laugh at the "creamy head" part, please.

  • Shadowbinger: No, it's not a typo. You're gonna want more and more of this Imperial stout, recipe courtesy of some Garlean soldier we conveniently found freshly taken care of just off the property. Roasted barley makes an appearance in this drink to give you a heavy, boozy drink that'll certainly get you drunk. In a good way, we swear.

  • Aleport's Finest*: Alright, we got a bit lazy on the ale. We just don't have the time for your regular-ass ales, 'kay? We bought what we could afford from some pirate offshore in the vicinity of Aleport. Good enough, right? Probably not diluted with seawater, it's not even salty.

moonshine

  • Pixie Apple Pie: We blended our high-proof moonshine with our Pixie Apple Cider and stuck in a bit of cinnamon and clove. Sipping on this'll take you right back to childhood. Not yours, probably. But someone's childhood. Try it "Ala Mode" by mixing in cream liqueur and a touch of vanilla extract.

  • Sugar & Spice: But not always nice. This peach-and-dragon pepper mix with our moonshine is soft and sweet, then she's angry and burns you. Like your crazy ex-girlfriend.

  • Shroud Serum: We took a few half-empty bottles of spirits off the shelf and dumped 'em in with whatever leftover fruit juice we had laying around, and combined them all with our strongest moonshine. So laden with sugar that you can't taste the 190 proof grain alcohol - drink at your own risk.

WE'RE HIRING

The Still & Strings is in need of several types of volunteers to help keep our events as interactive as we want them to be! As such, we have three "key" roles that participate in our shows, on stage and off-stage: Performers, Dancers, and Staff.Follow the navigation below to learn more about each of our roles.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us on any of our social media!

FOR PERFORMERS

The Still & Strings is proud to invite performers of all genres and levels of experience to come and show us their talents on our stage. Read on for more information about how our shows run differently than what you may have participated in before, or watched before. Each Still & Strings performance night features several performers. We aim to present our talent in what we call a “blended” performance format. What is a blended performance format?
The blended performance format is unlike most performance shows we’ve observed in the past. Instead of one performer going through their entire act, followed by the next who does the same thing, we will be stringing performances together, as if we put the playlist on “shuffle.”
For example:Someone else’s performance show:
111 > 222 > 333 > 444 > 555 > 666
Our blended performance format:
1 > 2 > 4 > 6 > 5 > 3 > 2 > 6 > 1 > 3 > 2
What we intend by using this format is a more streamlined show, something that flows together and lets all our performers shine equally. Instead of the first act being kind-of forgotten by the end of the show, everyone gets to come back up on stage again and wow everyone – like a pallet cleanser but for your ears! It also gives us hope that our performers get a little more time to mingle and RP between their songs if they so desire. However, this does come with a caveat! Performers using macros that are synced to music absolutely must turn in their music FOUR DAYS before the following event. This does not mean that you must have your macros ready to go four days before the event! We just need to have your music so that we can figure out your slotting. If you're unable to participate in the blended format due to time constraints but still want to perform, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you! Please let us know as early as possible! If you’re interested in signing up, please contact Caelholdt or sign up using our Google form!

FOR DANCERS

Are you a dancer by trade? Do you like being the person who starts everyone else dancing? Love wearing flashy glamours? Do you want to be under the lights, but don't want to subject yourself to tedious macros and tons of writing?
We have the job for you!
On the Tickled Keys stage, our dueling pianos serve as platforms for two dancers, also referred to as dance leaders. What this role does is simple: they lead the crowd with dances, prompting the audience to follow along and keep the experience more interactive. We ask that our Dance Leaders possess a list of the most common dances, at least the following emotes:
/sdance, /bdance, /hdance, /songbird, /cheeron, /cheerjump, /cheerwave, and /flamedance.
Not having all of these doesn't mean you won't be able to be a dance leader! Contact FlashBallad#0001 on Discord for help.If you’re interested in signing up, please contact Caelholdt or sign up using our Google form!

for staff

The Still & Strings is not just a stage with a motif that screams "we sell alcohol." We actually do sell alcohol. A bar needs bartenders, a venue needs security, and much more behind the scenes! If you'd like to help us out by serving as bar staff, security staff, or helping organize events behind the curtain, please contact FlashBallad#0001 on Discord or on any of our social media.
Thank you!
